The CDC reported the death toll from the contaminated epidural meningitis outbreak has risen to 28 people as of October 30, 2012. The number of fungal meningitis cases reported across the USA has risen to 363. Nineteen of the 23 states that received shipments have reported cases with Michigan and Tennessee being the hardest hit.
